This moving and tragicomic documentary by Tom Fassaert explores the complex relationship between elderly brothers Rob and René, who are the filmmaker's father and uncle. René lives a secluded life in a neglected house, while Rob, a retired psychologist, cares for him. Their weekly meetings are filled with both pain and affection. Suspecting there's more beneath their routine of care and irritation, Fassaert delves into the family archives and uncovers an old mystery: their father disappeared without a trace when the brothers were children. Through a personal and sometimes confronting road trip, Fassaert investigates how this disappearance has marked generations, creating a film about family, silence, and the lasting impact of absence.
